How to Use Cookie Cutters and Stamps
Our cookie cutters and stamps are designed to be easy to use for both kids and adults. Whether you’re baking for a special occasion or working on a creative project, this guide shares simple tips for getting clean shapes and clear impressions using our cutters and stamps.
Using cookie cutters and stamps for baking
For best results, start with a dough that is firm but pliable. We recommend chilling your dough before working with it to help preserve shape and detail. Every purchase includes our family’s sugar cookie recipe, which we specifically crafted to work well with our products.
Roll dough evenly to a consistent thickness, usually between 1/4" and 3/8", depending on the design. Lightly dust the cutter with flour before pressing to prevent sticking.
Press the cutter straight down into the dough without twisting or wiggling, which can distort the edges and soften details. Once the shape is cut, remove excess dough around the cutter before lifting it away.
To use the stamp, you can lightly dust the stamp surface with flour and press gently into the dough. Even pressure works better than force. If the dough sticks, lift slowly and re-dust as needed.
For designs with fine details, slightly thicker dough and a firmer chill before baking can help preserve definition.
Tips for stamped cookie designs
We recommend using our family’s recipe included with your order, but if you already have a favorite recipe, that works too.
If details appear faint, try:
• pressing the stamp a little more firmly
• chilling the dough before stamping
• choosing a larger size for more definition
Smaller sizes may naturally lose fine details due to scale, which is normal for stamped designs.
Using cutters and stamps for polymer clay and crafts
Our cutters and stamps are also commonly used with polymer clay, air-dry clay, pottery, and other craft materials.
Condition clay thoroughly before cutting to avoid cracking. Press the cutter straight down, just as you would with dough. For stamps, apply slow, even pressure to transfer the design.
If clay sticks to the stamp, a light dusting of cornstarch or a small amount of water can help with release.
Always test on a scrap piece first when working with a new material.
Choosing the right size
Our products are offered in multiple size tiers to suit different projects. Height and depth are consistent within each size option, while width may vary slightly depending on the design.
As a general guide:
• Tiny and Small sizes work well for decorative accents
• Medium sizes offer the best balance of detail and usability
• Large sizes provide bold impressions and extra structure
If you’re unsure which size to choose, medium is typically a good starting point for most baking and crafting projects.

Care and storage
Our cutters and stamps are precision crafted using PLA and should be hand washed only in cool, soapy water. Do not place them in the dishwasher, as heat can cause warping.
Dry thoroughly before storing. Keeping pieces flat or in a container helps prevent damage over time.
A note on handmade tools
Because our designs are made in-house and tested for real use, small variations in appearance or finish are normal. These do not affect performance and are part of working with handmade tools.
